As Fabio Mendez knows, there is a lot of misunderstanding about the role of a change agent in any organization. In general terms, the role is someone who brings changes to organizational systems so that its people are more productive, or have a new and better perspective.

One of the most important things he does as a change agent, says Fabio Mendez, is to look toward the future of the organization or project that he is associated with. No matter what is going on in the present, his role is to understand its potential and affect its direction.

In late 2011 Fabio Mendez was invited to visit the Hamad International Airport Project in Qatar, which at the time was known as the New Doha International Airport Project. He was able to witness in person the scope and advancements on the project and to meet in the on-site offices of the project management team. The airport opened to air traffic in the spring of 2014.

Fabio Mendez was also invited to the construction site of the New Quito International Airport Project in Ecuador, acting as Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Project Finance S.A. He visited that airport’s construction site and project in 2010. “This was a special visit along with Promotora Bicentenario Airport’s Project Manager and also with the Board’s President to acknowledge Quiport´s experience,” he recalls, “and particularly AG’s credentials and current airport construction experience.”Fabio Mendez received his education in France and Colombia.
